LSU and Clemson face off in the national title game at 8pm on Monday January 13, 2020. The game can be seen on CBS. The current point spread is LSU -5.5 points and the total is 69.5 points.

Both teams are undefeated and between the two of them only one game was almost lost this season. That was when Clemson won by one point vs UNC in a nail-biter.

This is the fourth time these two programs have met. Clemson won the last match-up which was the 2012 Peach Bowl.

Clemson is 12-2 ATS and SU when they play on a neutral field since 2014. LSU is 8-3 ATS and SU in last 11 games played on a neutral field.

One factor that seems to be overlooked is that LSU allows a lot more points than does Clemson. LSU allows 21 PPG and Clemson allows only 11. Some would say that is because LSU plays in a tougher conference, but the SEC isn't quite as dominant as it once was.

The betting action is very lopsided at many online sportsbooks. One sportsbook in particular is showing 80/20 lopsided betting action LSU.

Both teams rush and pass the ball extremely well. Both QB's are Heisman caliber and one is actually the current Heisman winner. Something's got to give.

My money is on the defending champion being underestimated again. They were underdogs last year against Alabama and won outright by a huge number. The 5.5 - 6 points they are getting is the tipping point for me. It just seems a bit high. If Clemson can stifle the LSU offense even just a little, they can win this one outright. I'm taking the points.
