Never was the game really close. Denver dominated the game from start to finish. No sign of “Playoff Jimmy” could be found. Miami Heat lost by 11 points (the point spread was Denver -9) despite Butler’s meager 13 points and 7 rebounds.
Denver demonstrated the potential of a rested NBA club. Nikola Jokic recorded a triple double with 27 points, 10 rebounds, and 14 assists. Jamal Murray also played well, recording 26 points, 6 rebounds, and 10 assists. Miami will need to be able to contain at least one of these two players if they hope to win even one game in this series.
In every way, Denver’s ball movement was superior. They appeared to be championship-caliber, having the proper amount of dedication and training. In order to stop Jokic from performing, Bam Adebayo will need to amp up his game.
The Denver Nuggets were -400 money line favorites at the start of the series. The current series odds favor Denver at -800. Denver was down 1,000 when the line opened last night. All day, there has been a small amount of Miami Hat activity.
