Starting next year, two of the top teams in college basketball, UNC and Kansas, will face off in a two-game series.
The two universities announced on Monday that they have agreed to a home-and-home schedule for the 2024–2025 campaign.
Why it’s important The game in 2024 will mark UNC’s second visit to Kansas’ illustrious Allen Fieldhouse; the first was in 1960.
Kansas will also travel to Chapel Hill’s Dean Dome for the first time in 2025.
Despite having a long-standing rivalry, UNC and Kansas have only met 12 times, including twice in championship games (1957 and 2022).
Additionally, two of UNC’s most well-known coaches have ties to Kansas. Roy Williams coached there for 15 seasons, Dean Smith was a former student.
