When the teams square off on Friday for game two of a four-game weekend series, the Tampa Bay Rays, who currently hold the best record in baseball, will try to maintain their recent dominance over the Chicago White Sox. The first pitch will be thrown at Guaranteed Rate Field at 7:10 p.m. ET. The Rays won 14-5 on Thursday thanks to a career-high five RBI from Isaac Paredes, who also swept the White Sox in a three-game series earlier in the season. A losing skid of eight games will be attempted to end by the White Sox. The Rays (21-5) made a significant offseason purchase in right-hander Zach Eflin, who has so far shown to be a wise investment for the team. Eflin inked a three-year, $40 million deal with the Rays. He is 3-0 with a 2.81 ERA and will be going for his first victory on the road this year. Lucas Giolito, a projected White Sox starter, has made seven career starts versus the Rays and is 2-1 with a 2.70 ERA.
The Rays are -155 money-line favorites (risk $155 to win $100) for Friday’s game against the White Sox, according to the most recent MLB odds from BetUS Sportsbook. The total number of runs scored has an 8.5 over/under. There are 14 games in all scheduled by MLB on Friday. In other major league action, a three-game weekend series between the Philadelphia Phillies (13-13), who have won five of their last six games, and the Houston Astros (-155) will begin at 8:10 p.m. ET.
