week 1 Vikings vs Bucs free football pick

Minnesota Vikings Vs Tampa Bay Buccaneers Week 1 Free Football Pick

08 September, 2023

The 2023 NFL season is about to begin and Week 1 has the Minnesota Vikings and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers going head to head on Sunday, 10 September.

The Vikings ended their previous season with a 13-4 record and the Buccaneers finished 8-9. Both teams ended up facing defeat in the Wild Card Round that marked the end of their 2022 season. They are now back again better than ever all set for the field.

Minnesota Vikings Preview

The Vikings have quite a few skilled and talented players on their roster for the 2023 season. Wide receiver Justin Jefferson, also the 2022 Offensive Players of the Year, will need to continue great work just like before. Similar is expected from the team’s quarterback Kirk Cousins. Sadly, the team did have to move on from Pro Bowl running back Dalvin Cook and cornerback Patrick Peterson but hopefully the new USC standouts they drafted, Mekhi Blackmon and Jordan Addison, can prove to be good replacements.

The only issue they may face in the near future is with their secondary. Most of their top corners are either rookies or second year players and they have mostly been in a soft zone for a while now. Defensive coordinator Brian Flores’ wish to change this soft system may not settle so well with the inexperienced players on the secondary. Hopefully, Flores can probably make it work.

The Vikings seem well prepared to take on the opening game and the roster is more than capable of emerging victorious.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers Preview

Now that Tom Brady has retired, Head coach Todd Bowles seems to want to rely on quarterback Baker Mayfield to carry the team.  He is the quarterback in charge now after he beat out Kyle Trask in the preseason for the starting spot. His chemistry with the other players will help the team a lot more than they think. He isn’t the only promising player as there are also a lot of expectations from Wide receiver Mike Evans this year as well. The 6’5” player is capable enough to take care of all battles on his own. The defense isn’t any less incredible either. Linebackers Lavonte David and Devin White will definitely make sure the defense is unbreakable against the Vikings.

If anyone can win this opening game, there is a good chance it’ll be the Buccaneers. Their roster definitely isn’t here to play around.

What to expect?

Both the Vikings and the Buccaneers have talented rosters and their dynamic players have us expecting a high scoring game. The Tampa Bay duo of Evans and Chris Godwin are one of the best in the league. The Vikings’ offense will surely push the pace in this Week 1 game and it will put pressure on the Buccaneers quite early. It is going to be an exciting face off and fans are eager to see what goes down. The current NFL point spread is Vikings -5 and the total is 45.5. With the inexperienced Minnesota secondary and the Bucs defensive uncertainty, it would seem that the Over is the best to play here. You can wager on the game now at Bovada Sportsbook
