The Buffalo Bills and Las Vegas Raiders will go head to head for some Week 2 action in the 2023 NFL regular season on Sunday, September 17. Buffalo is currently favored -8 points on the point spread.

The Bills are coming off of a 22-16 loss in overtime in Week 1 against the New York Jets while the opposite side, the Raiders, successfully won 17-16 against the Denver Broncos. Both teams haven’t done very well in the previous seasons but hopefully, the 2023 season is different. Week 1 was a hot start for both and has fans eagerly waiting for the Week 2 matchup.

Las Vegas Raiders

The Raiders did quite a good job on the field against the Broncos limiting them to just 16 points. The real question here is if the team has managed to improve their defense from before or the odds just weren’t in favor of the Broncos; only time will tell. But one thing is for sure and that is their offense continues to make up for every weakness of theirs especially under Head coach Sean Payton.

Jimmy Garoppolo has been THE player for the Raiders for a while now and he didn’t disappoint this time either. His ability to rise to the occasion came in clutch in the fourth quarter of the Week 1 game. Not only did he finish with 200 passing yards but also he managed two touchdowns with one interception.  

There were a few other players as well who greatly contributed to their Week 1 success. Jakobi Meyers led the Raiders with 9 catches for 81 yards. Wide receiver Davante Adams did a great job on the field as well, adding 6 catches for 66 yards.

Buffalo Bills

The Bills need to defend their home field, Highmark Stadium, in the Week 2 game. They’ve done it before in the 2022 season and they are more than capable of doing it again. They didn’t get off on the strongest foot losing to the Jets and they need to make up for it.

Quarterback Josh Allen has been a strong asset to the team but he didn’t do as well as people had expected him to. He blames himself for trying to force the ball and thinks that is what led them to defeat. Hopefully, he can learn from his mistakes and do better in the upcoming games. Him along with Stefon Diggs make a great team and have the potential to carry the team towards victory.

What to expect?

After what we’ve seen in Week 1, it seems like the Las Vegas Raiders have a better shot at winning the game. They are 1-0 for the first time since 2002 and they’ve certainly put in a lot of effort to get here. If they can run the ball successfully on the Bills, it’ll be close to impossible to beat them. As good as the Buffalo Bills are, they haven’t been a force on the field lately. They need to do better if they wish to hand the Raiders their first loss of the regular season.
