Hawks and Magic to Play Regular Season Game in Mexico City

The Atlanta Hawks and Orlando Magic will play a regular-season game at the Arena CDMX in Mexico City on Thursday, Nov. 9, according to a recent announcement from the NBA and Zignia. Since 1992, the league has played 32 games in Mexico, the most of any non-North American nation.

With Paolo Banchero, the No. 1 overall pick in 2022, Franz Wagner, a member of the 2021–22 NBA All–Rookie First Team, and Markelle Fultz, the No. 1 overall pick in 2017, the Magic will play its fourth game in Mexico since 2012.

The Hawks, led by two-time NBA All-Star Trae Young and 2022 NBA All-Star Dejounte Murray, are coming off their third consecutive postseason trip. This will be their first game in Mexico.

“The Magic love representing the NBA and the City of Orlando when we have the opportunity to play in these Global Games,” Magic CEO Alex Martins said. “We’ve been to London twice, Japan, China, Brazil, and Mexico City previously.” We’ve had the chance to visit Mexico City before, and we are excited to bring our team back there to play. NBA League Pass, the league’s premium live game subscription service accessible on the NBA App, will broadcast the NBA Mexico City Game 2023 live in Mexico, reaching fans in more than 200 countries and territories on television, digital media, and social media. NBA Cares community outreach programs, Jr. NBA youth basketball development programming, and interactive events will all be part of the league’s plans for the NBA Mexico City Game 2023, which will also be held by the league and its partners. On Friday, Nov. 10, as part of the NBA G League’s Showcase Cup program, the Mexico City Capitanes will host the Osceola Magic to round out the nation’s weeklong celebration of basketball. At a later time, further information on the 2023–24 NBA G League season will be made public.
