The Chiefs and Eagles will face off again in 2023, this time in a historic primetime slot, with the exhilarating outcome of Super Bowl LVII still fresh in the minds of fans everywhere.
It will be the second time ever that a Super Bowl rematch will be the main event of Monday Night Football when the two teams clash in Week 11. According to ESPN’s Field Yates, the Packers and Patriots met in a rematch of Super Bowl XXXI in 1997, making it the only previous occasion in league history that it has occurred.
In the season’s last game, the Chiefs prevailed 38-35 over the Eagles owing to a stirring comeback masterminded by Kansas City quarterback Patrick Mahomes, who won the game’s MVP award for the second time in his career. By scoring on all four of their second-half drives, including a game-winning 27-yard field goal by Harrison Butker with eight seconds left on the clock, the Chiefs overcame a 10-point halftime deficit.
On Thursday, September 7, the Lions will visit the home opener for the reigning champions. The NFL will unveil its complete 2023 schedule on Thursday at 8 p.m. ET.
