Bryce Young Panthers

Bryce Young has Encouraging Outing this Week

28 August, 2023

Through two preseason games, Bryce Young hadn’t accomplished much, either well or poorly. Not entirely his fault. He didn’t have enough time to settle in thanks to the offensive line of the Carolina Panthers.

In the final preseason game against the Detroit Lions, the Panthers’ line performed well, and Young’s outcomes were extremely strong.

opening-round draft pick Young played the opening period, going 7 of 12 for 73 yards and a touchdown. When he stepped down and Andy Dalton took over, he had a passer rating of 103.8. Young ran for 21 yards on three occasions as well. Although Young hadn’t given the Panthers any cause for concern during the preseason, it must have been satisfying for the group to watch him perform so well in his last preseason game.

Young wasn’t the greatest story for the Panthers after their first two exhibition games; rather, it was how inadequately the offensive line had protected Young. Friday night, they had a better-looking lineup. On the opening drive, Young was sacked once, but he kept the ball for an extended period of time.

Young made some good throws while completing his first four passes thanks to better protection. On the game’s first drive, he completed just one of his final four passes, a throwaway on a well-covered receiver screen.

Young began the Panthers’ second drive with arguably his best preseason pass. He had plenty of time to prepare in the pocket before hitting Adam Thielen streaking across the middle with an expertly put pass for a gain of 21 yards. On third-and-9, he then scampered for a first down.

He then had time to line up in the pocket again on a subsequent third down, finding Thielen on an out route for a terrific 16-yard score.

Before Friday, Young had played in two preseason games and was 7 of 12 for 56 yards. Given his short playing time and the protection concerns, it was difficult to assess him. It was simple to observe Young’s vision, patience, and accuracy on Friday night. He also made wise choices regarding when to flee.

Young will make his NFL regular-season debut with the Atlanta Falcons the following time we see him. He has some momentum following a good preseason finale.
