The 150th running of the Kentucky Derby will take place in the state of Kentucky on Saturday May 4, 2024. This is the biggest horse race on the globe.

As you may be aware, this is the first leg of the horse racing competition known as “The Triple Crown.” The Kentucky Derby, the Preakness, and the Belmont Stakes are the three major horse racing events. These races attract significant wagering at the track and at several sportsbooks.

In this event, there are two clear favorites. “Fierceness” is the name of one that will be vying for the #17 poll spot. No horse ranked #17 has been able to win this race in the previous ninety-four years.

Sierra Leone comes in second place. This horse, who holds an 8.2 out of 10 star rating at Horse Racing Nation, was trained by Chad C. Brown.

There were numerous scratches and even a horse fatality at the Kentucky Derby last year. Racing officials hope to steer clear of that in 2024. Presently, the event on Saturday is scheduled to have a field of 20 horses. Bob Baffert, the famed horse trainer, will not have trained any of those horses.

Naturally, Baffert was connected to the Medina Spirit incident in 2021.
