Two BCS buster hopefuls meet up on Wednesday December 22nd, each having to settle for a lesser bowl than the BCS National Championship game. This time it wasn't the computers that decided. Boise State made it just a little bit easier on the BCS with a 34-31 OT loss to Nevada towards the end of the season. Their 24-game winning streak was snapped. Disappointing, after an undefeated season and Fiesta Bowl Victory last year. For Boise State fans, this was supposed to be the year. The Broncos ended their season with a 50-14 victory over Utah State.

Utah, who started the season 8-0, took back-to-back losses against TCU and Notre Dame. The Utes ended their season with a 17-16 win over BYU.

Boise State is favored by 17 points in the MAACO Bowl. The total is listed at 61. The Broncos lead the series 4-2. Boise State won the last meeting 36-3 in 2006. Both teams leave for the Mountain West Conference next season.

Boise State's offense is ranked number 2 (just behind Oregon) with 47.6 points per game. They average 519.5 yards per game. At 71 percent, Junior QB Kellen Moore has thrown for 3,506 yards, 33 TDS and five interceptions.

Utah, which gives up over 200 yards through the air will have a tough time defending Boise State's powerful aerial attack. QB Jordan Wynn leads the offense and has thrown for 2334 yards, 17 TDS and ten interceptions. They have won 9 straight bowl games and hope to keep the steak alive. This might be their toughest challenge yet.
