sportsbook review - bet basketball For a team that started 10-1, Georgetown is ending the season a major disappointment. Of those first 11 opponents, only two were not of the "cream puff" variety. G'town wooped up on teams like American and Drexel and it's only semi-impressive win was against a Maryland team that was struggling at the time. Nova is 14-10 ATS and G'town is an abysmal 8-13-1.

The line opened yesterday at Nova -5.5 and the heavy public betting has pushed it to -6.5. We being fans of ATP (Against the Public) made us look at Georgetown a little more in depth. They are guaranteed to finish in the bottom of 3 of the Big East. They have a nothing to lose spot we think. Most stats point to Villanova to win and cover this game though:

Georgetown has lost 2 straight games.
Villanova has won 3 straight games.

Team records:
Georgetown: 14-12 SU, 8-13-1 ATS
Villanova: 23-5 SU, 14-10 ATS

Georgetown most recently:
When playing on Saturday are 6-4
Before playing St. John's are 7-3
After playing Louisville are 4-1
After a loss are 3-7

Villanova most recently:
When playing on Saturday are 7-3
Before playing Notre Dame are 7-3
After playing DePaul are 4-1
After a win are 7-3

A few trends to consider:
Georgetown is 4-1 SU in its last 5 games when playing Villanova
The total has gone UNDER in 4 of Georgetown's last 5 games when playing Villanova
The total has gone UNDER in 7 of Georgetown's last 9 games on the road
Georgetown is 4-9 ATS in its last 13 games when playing Villanova
Villanova is 5-0 SU in its last 5 games at home
Villanova is 9-1 SU in its last 10 games
The total has gone OVER in 6 of Villanova's last 7 games
Villanova is 5-1 ATS in its last 6 games at home

We are going against the trends and public betting though and making a small play on a talented Georgetown team that we think will keep it close. Watch the line and wait til the last minute to bet this one. If you see a major line move, this is probably last minute wise guy action and should be paid attention. If the line drops in The Hoyas favor, take them for sure. Especially since our friends at the sportsbooks at saying that 82% of the public is riding Nova.
