Betting the NFL Preseason can be a risky proposition

A lot of people that bet on sports often pass when it comes down to betting on the NFL preseason. Often they've been bitten before and are a bit shy to be bitten again. The main reason they failed was because they used the same methods to bet on both preseason games and regular games.

It just doesn't work that way and it never will. You need to come up with completely different strategies when it comes to the preseason monster. It doesn't mean it's impossible either; you just need to approach them correctly.

The first thing you need to consider when betting preseason is what are the teams trying to accomplish? They're not necessarily trying to win the preseason game, but prepare for the season games. Coaches try to focus on areas where they may need to improve and even go as far to try and hide their strongest assets until later in the season.

By using the stats from the previous year to can try to second guess where a team may focus on in the preseason. If a team had bad running stats, they would most likely focus a lot on running in their next preseason. You have to think like the coach would, imagine what he would be trying to focus on.

Once you work out what's happening, you will notice that the amount of winners you pick starts to increase. It also becomes a lot easier to work out where the patterns and trends will develop.

You can bet preseason football if you like but I personally shy away from it. You really don't know what starters will be out eher and for how long.
