12 Noon EST on December 28, 2019 we have the Camping World Bowl. This game features a rare matchup between Notre Dame and Iowa State. These two teams have never played one another, something that you don't expect to hear 150 years into the existence of a sporting event. The line currently has Notre Dame -3.5 points. 73% of the betting public is on the Irish.

The win/loss records seem to dictate that Notre Dame should run away with this one. After all, they are 10-2 and Iowa State is just 7-5. But Iowa State seems to get up for the big games. They only lost by one point to Oklahoma. They only lost by two points to Baylor.

Notre Dame hasn't dominated like they have the last few years. They have a 3 point loss to USC and only a one point win against Virginia Tech. They got smashed by Michigan and lost by 6 to Georgia, a team that wasn't as good as everyone thought.

Iowa State really is an offensive Juggernaut. QB Brock Purdy has 3,760 yards passing and 27 TD's. He ranks fourth nationally at his position. The Cyclones also run for 140 YPG.

Notre Dame matches up well against this passing attack from Iowa State. The Irish pass defense is very good and the defense as a whole is good too, allowing just 18.7 PPG. They also lead the nation with 17 fumble recoveries. They play fast and they play mean.

The Irish average 37 PPG on offense and Iowa State allows 25 PPG. If Iowa State had defenses of past years I would say that the Cyclones are a great pick. Heck, I want to take the Cyclones here. But they simply cannot stop good offenses. As much as I hate going with the public I have to bet the Notre Dame Fighting Irish here. I know that some "sharps" are looking at N.D. playing badly in a "let-down" bowl. But, that is quite an assumption to make.
