The last couple picks we posted here for you exclusively at Free Picks USA worked out pretty well. Lets try to make it three in a row with this free pick of USC vs Notre Dame.

Its rivalry week and USC vs Notre Dame is usually a very exciting matchup. This year Notre Dame is having a season for the ages while USC is wrapped in the dull shadows of mediocrity.

Notre Dame is ranked #3 in the land and has an 11-0 record. USC is 5-6. Against the spread ND is 6-4-1 and USC is 3-8.

Notre Dame throws for 257 yards in the air and almost 200 YPG on the ground. They are a powerful offense. All of that offense while allowing only 184 yards passing. One weakness on this team, however, is that they do allow 137 rushing. That is #39 in the nation.

USC throws for 239 YPG and rushes for 138, not anemic numbers by any stretch of the imagination.

Notre Dame scores 34 PPG and allows just 17 PPG. USC scores 26 PPG but allows 27. Their defense has been a major issue this season.

USC is at a low point having just lost to the upstart UCLA Bruins. Before that, a one point loss to Cal was disheartening. ND is coming off wins against decent opponents in Northwestern, Syracuse and Florida State.

This seems like an obvious slam dunk for Notre Dame but consider these trends:
  • Notre Dame is 2-3-1 ATS in its last 6 games on the road
  • Notre Dame is 5-11 SU in its last 16 games when playing Southern California
  • Notre Dame is 2-6 ATS in its last 8 games when playing on the road against Southern California
I have no choice but to recommend that you take USC at home getting the points. The big stage should encourage some of their tops players to finally make some plays. Look for USC to try to exploit the soft run defense. And don't forget, #8 Washington State's only loss was to USC in LA. If you are feeling really lucky put a wager on a shocking USC upset straight up win (+345). But +11 should be a solid double up play.
