Saturday at 7:30 pm EST - The Ohio State Buckeyes take to Ross-Ade Stadium in West Lafayette, Indiana to play the Boilermakers of Purdue.

Ohio State comes in as the number two team in the land according to ESPN. They are 7-0 straight up and just 3-4 against the spread. The offense averages 43 PPG and the defense allows just under 20 PPG. Their offense is very powerful and puts up an astounding 371 yards per game passing and rushes for 185 yards per game.

Purdue's offense is no slouch. They average 33 PPG on offense and allow 23 PPG. They put up 330 yards YPG and rush for 180 yard per game. The defense gives up similar numbers as OSU as far as yards go. Purdue has a slight advantage in turnover differential. Purdue is 4-2 ATS and 3-3 SU.

After a rough start for Purdue (losing their first tree games), the Boilermakers have been able to string together some solid play and three wins in a row (Boston College, Nebraska and Illinois). This is due to their young and vanilla defense stepping up their play.

Head to Head

Ohio State is 7-3 straight up in their last ten vs Purdue. But they are only 3-7 ATS. Purdue seems to give the Buckeyes fits when it comes to covering the spread. In fact, Purdue is 5-2 ATS in its last 7 games when playing at home against Ohio State.

I'll be honest, I want to tell you Purdue will give Ohio State fits and keep it close or even win. And this is the perfect time in the season for this to happen. But I think Ohio State is on a different level than Purdue. This game should end up looking like a JV team playing a varsity team. I think the pressure and experience of the OSU defense will cause the Purdue offense to sputter and make a lot of mistakes.

Ohio State has had a tougher schedule this year than Purdue. They went into TCU and Penn State and beat both teams on their home field. Purdue has lost to Eastern Michigan on this very same field this season. Odds are OSU will come out with some great game planning and the athletes will execute and prove that they are for real by steamrolling (pun intended) this Boilermaker team. Take OSU -13.5 for the free pick of the day.
