The last time the Nets and Celtics met was back in March just before the coronavirus halted play during the 2019-20 NBA season. As a 6.5-point road underdog, Brooklyn pulled off a 129-120 victory.

It was a big win for the Nets who trailed at one point by 21 points. On Wednesday though, things will be much different. It all starts with the lineups.

Game: Brooklyn Nets (31-35, 32-34 ATS) vs. Boston Celtics (44-22, 37-24-5 ATS)
When: 9:00 PM ET, Wednesday, August 5, 2020
Where: ESPN Wide World of Sports Arena, Kissimmee, Florida
Current Line: N/ATotal: N/A
TV Coverage: ESPN+

When the Nets completed the comeback and eventual victory over Boston on March 3, they were led by Caris LeVert, who stunned everyone with 37 of his 51 points coming in the fourth quarter and overtime.

LeVert shot 17-of-26 from the floor and 12-of-18 from the free throw line. In the Nets' second game after the restart, LeVert continues to lead the Nets. After a look at NBA scores and odds, you'll see he scored 34 points in a 118-110 win over the Washington Wizards.

The problem for LeVert against Boston will be the rest of the Nets' lineup. Taurean Prince and Spencer Dinwiddie, both of whom started against the Celtics back in March, are both out for the season having opted not to play due to the coronavirus.

Reserves DeAndre Jordan and Wesley Chandler also opted out. The Nets, which are still the likely No. 8 seed in the Eastern Conference playoffs, will have a much different cast of characters on Wednesday night against Boston.

So will the Celtics. Bettors looking for free picks Boston's leading scorer Jayson Tatum did not play in that game against Brooklyn back in March. Tatum averages 23.4 points per game for Boston. He had 34 in the Celtics' recent win over Portland.

Kemba Walker (21.0 ppg) and Jaylen Brown (20.7 ppg) give Boston a trifecta of scorers. Don't forget, Boston head coach Brad Stevens is one of the league's top defensive minds. The Celtics rank among the NBA leaders in several defensive statistical categories including points allowed per game. Boston is third-best giving up just 107.3 points a game.

Bettors looking to cash in on the upset might look long and hard at Brooklyn. The Nets have actually owned the Celtics this season winning two of three games. In addition to the March 3 win, Brooklyn also beat Boston 112-107 way back in November.

Do you love college football? Will the season survive or which conference will cancel football first?

You might want to re-evaluate the Nets though with the much-maligned roster. In addition to all the COVID-19 opt-outs, Jamal Crawford is questionable for Wednesday. Dinwiddie was a big loss with his 20.6 points and 6.8 assists per game.

The Celtics have yet to pull an ATS win in the restart. They lost to the Bucks by seven as 3.5-point underdogs and their four-point win over Portland resulted in a push. Boston hasn't covered a spread since March 4, the night after they lost to the Nets.

Boston was a four-point favorite against Cleveland on the road. The Celtics got 32 points from Tatum and won by six, 112-106. Boston has only covered the spread three times in its last ten games this season.

The better play might be focusing on the Total.

The Over has hit in both Celtics' games during the restart. The Over also hit in Brooklyn's first game, 128-118 loss to Orlando.

FREE PICK: The odds are yet to be released at the time of publication, but I'm leaning towards the OVER at the moment.
